Meaning, it is what wounds and itches it, as it was said, sin is what itches in your heart, even if people give you a fatwa about it and give you a fatwa. And the wound is what moves in the heart of grief, and from it is the saying of Ibn Sirin when he was asked: What is the most severe form of piety? He said: How easy it is if you doubt something, then leave it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let your conscience be your guide.
A guilty conscience needs no accuser.
If it troubles your conscience, don't do it.
There is also an expression very close in meaning to the Prophetic tradition:
If in doubt, leave it out.
If doubt enters your mind, leave it. This is similar to Ibn Sirin's saying: "If you doubt something, leave it."
The closest English interpretation of the proverb is:
Sin is what troubles the heart and disturbs the conscience.
