He took it all : أخذه برمته

He took it all
-------------------------------
“To take the whole thing.”
“Lock, stock, and barrel.” —
“The whole lot.” —
“Hook, line, and sinker.” —
Lock, stock, and barrel.”
He bought the business lock, stock, and barrel.
--------------------------
The Arabic expression “أَخَذَهُ بِرُمَّتِهِ” (he took it all) is equivalent to the English:
“To take the whole thing.”
That is, to take it completely, leaving nothing behind.
Some similar English expressions, depending on the context, include:
- “Lock, stock, and barrel.” — with everything, completely and without exception.
- “The whole lot.” — the entire lot or the whole thing.
- “Hook, line, and sinker.” — to believe something completely and without hesitation; this is especially used when someone is deceived, and therefore only works if that is the intended meaning in the context.
The closest idiomatic equivalent is: “Lock, stock, and barrel.”
Example:
He bought the business lock, stock, and barrel.
That is, he bought the entire business, including everything in it.
