The pillar of reason is forbearance.

The support of the dream mind

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patience is the companion of wisdom.
Wisdom comes with patience.
A cool head is a wise head.
Self-control is the mark of wisdom.
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty.
A cool head is a wise head.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Patience is the foundation of reason" means that patience and self-control are the basis of reason and composure. A wise person does not succumb to anger and impulsiveness, but rather remains calm and exercises self-control.
Some of the closest English equivalents are:
Patience is the companion of wisdom.
Wisdom comes with patience.
A cool head is a wise head.
Self-control is the mark of wisdom.
If we want a well-known English proverb close to the idea, the best is:
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty.
This is an old biblical expression very close to the meaning of patience and self-control.
As for a concise proverbial formulation, I recommend:
A cool head is a wise head.
That is, "A cool head is a wise head."
